The match with Italy does not matter. Ukraine's national football team gets an extra chance to reach Euro 2024
The Serbian national football team drew with Bulgaria (2:2) in the final, 10th round of the qualifiers for the 2024 European Football Championship and went directly to the final tournament. The Serbian team thus freed up a place in the Nations League playoffs for Ukraine.
Each division of the League of Nations (A, B and C) has its own Path (teams from one division will not intersect with teams from another division before the playoffs), formed of the four best-ranked teams. In the spring of 2024, they will play the semifinals and then the final. The winner will receive a coveted pass to the final part of the European Championship.
Prior to the November 19 matches, Israel, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Scotland, and Finland were ranked above Ukraine in Division B.
Earlier, Scotland reached Euro 2024 through direct qualification. And now Serbia has made it there as well. This freed up two positions, which Ukraine climbed to by qualifying for the Nations League playoffs.
Ukraine will be able to play in either Pool A or Pool B. If the Czech national team loses to Moldova at home on November 20, Ukraine will automatically be in Pool B, where the draw may bring our team together with Bosnia and Herzegovina. In the A path, our compatriots may face Wales.
As reported by OBOZ.UA, on Monday, November 20, Serhiy Rebrov's team will play a nominally home match of the 10th round against the Italian national team. This game will not affect the Ukrainians' entry into the Nations League playoffs.
Before the Euro 2024 qualifying match, which will take place in Leverkusen, Germany, the Ukrainians are third in quintet C with 13 points. Italy is second, ahead of the Yellow and Blues in personal meetings.
To take the final second place in Group C, which gives the right to go directly to the European Championships on November 20, the Ukrainian national team needs only a victory.
