The leader has changed. The ranking of the world's strongest passports has been published: where does Ukraine stand
The VisaGuide initiative has updated the ranking of the world's strongest passports, which this year was topped by a new leader – Singapore. Previously, the highest position was occupied by Spain. Many European countries are also at the top of the list, as their passports offer impressive freedom of movement.
In particular, Singapore, Spain, France, Italy, and Hungary are in the top five, respectively. The full list of countries is available on the VisaGuide website.
This ranking is considered one of the most reliable in the travel industry, along with the Henley Passport Index. The company evaluates 199 countries and territories around the world and bases its results on factors such as visa-free access, e-visas, and global mobility.
The researchers then use a proprietary Destination Significance Score (DSS) to assign each passport a unique value. Using this system, VisaGuide found that the Singapore passport is officially the strongest passport in the world – with a score of 91.27 out of a possible 100 points as of September 2024.
Spain is in second place with a score of 90.60, followed by France with a score of 90.53. This is followed by Italian and Hungarian passports, which received 90.31 and 90.28 points, respectively. This is good news for Europe as a whole, as only one country outside the continent made it into the top 20 – Japan, which ranks 15th, the same position as last year. Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Austria round out the top 10.
It is worth noting that Ukraine took the 65th position in the ranking with 72.71 points out of 100. Meanwhile, Russia can be seen on the 95th place with 48.18 points.
