"The head was hanging out of the window": Kyiv resident tells how he saved a truck driver who fell ill while driving in Kyiv. Video

On October 1, an out-of-control truck rammed into several cars in Kyiv's Solomianskyi district. A 19-year-old resident of the capital, Maksym Fomin, managed to stop the multi-ton vehicle and help its driver, who felt sick at the wheel, by immediately responding to the emergency.

The incredible story happened on October 1 in the Solomianskyi district of Kyiv. According to 19-year-old Kyiv resident Maksym, he was standing in the yard with his friends that day when he heard car horns and saw cars on the road starting to back up.

"I realized that something was wrong and that something had happened. I was ready to go in that direction and saw a truck (that was ramming cars – Ed.) – the driver was unconscious. His head was hanging out of the window and he was not in control of his actions," the guy said.

The video posted on social media shows Maksym running up to the truck, which was "pulling" two cars in front of it, opening the cab door and stopping the movement of the multi-ton vehicle.

After that, Maksym, who is a first aid instructor at the "Solomianski Kotyky" charity foundation, began to help the truck driver.

"It was basic first aid – to prevent him from hurting himself. I tried to communicate with him – he did not react in any way: his seizure (epilepsy – Ed.) had not yet ended," the guy said.

The same video shows Maksym holding the truck driver by the neck, explaining to the man who helped him that the driver was sick.

"When the ambulance arrived, I convinced him (the driver – Ed.) that he needed help and needed to get out of the car. He did not answer but did everything I asked him to do," Fomin added.

Later, the young man learned that the driver was given the necessary assistance and released.
