The famous Ukrainian tennis player Marta Kostiuk has incredibly reached the quarterfinals of a major tennis tournament in Stuttgart, Germany, with a prize pool of $800,000. Our compatriot made a grand comeback in a match against the seventh-ranked Qinwen Zheng from China – 6:2, 4:6, 7:5.

The rivals exchanged victories in the first two sets, and in the decisive third game, with the score at 5-4, the Chinese woman had five match points. However, the 21-year-old from Kyiv did not allow her opponent to finish the game in her favor, leveled the score, and then took two games in a row and brought the match to victory.

The tennis players spent 2 hours and 40 minutes on the court. During this time, Marta served three times and converted four out of six break points. The Ukrainian recorded eight double faults.

In the next round, Kostiuk will compete with the third world number three Coco Hauff from Germany. This will be the third meeting between the rivals. Before this match, the German won in the toughest three-set confrontations. The last time she stopped the Ukrainian in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open-2024.
