The EU will provide Ukraine with one million school textbooks in Ukrainian: the first batch has arrived
The European Union has announced the delivery of 1 million textbooks in Ukrainian to Ukraine, which Ukrainian schoolchildren will be able to use during the new school year. The first batch of books was delivered to our country on September 9.
This was reported by Ukrinform, citing information from the European Commission. It is noted that the first batch included textbooks on computer science and art.
"Today, the first batch of one million computer science and art textbooks for Ukrainian schoolchildren printed in the EU will be handed over to the Ukrainian authorities. These new books in the Ukrainian language will bring to 1.5 million the total number of textbooks delivered to Ukraine since the beginning of the war," the European Commission said in a statement.
These textbooks will help Ukrainian schoolchildren continue their education despite Russian terrorist attacks.
The European Commission also emphasized that this targeted action to support education in Ukraine is carried out in close connection with programs to support and integrate Ukrainian refugee children into the European school system.
These textbooks were published through cooperation between several EU member states. For example, the files for printing were prepared in the Netherlands, and the paper for the textbooks came from Germany. The books were printed in Poland. And from there, the textbooks were delivered to Ukraine.
The European Commission reports that this initiative is funded under the European Erasmus+ program.
As OBOZ.UA reported, a map of Ukraine without Crimea was found in a 7th grade Ukrainian language textbook. The distorted map of Ukraine was found in the electronic version of the publication, but it is also present in printed books.
