The energy sector is under massive enemy attack: Russia has already carried out the 11th attack this year – Ministry of Energy
On November 28, the terrorist state of Russia launched a massive attack on energy facilities in Ukraine. As a result, the transmission system operator NPC Ukrenergo urgently introduced emergency power outages, with normal schedules not being in effect.
The consequences will be clarified as soon as the security situation allows. Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko announced this on Facebook.
"Attacks on energy facilities are taking place all over Ukraine... Follow official reports and stay in shelters!" he wrote.
According to the Ministry of Energy, the aggressor country Russia has carried out the 11th massive attack on Ukraine's civilian energy infrastructure this year.
"Power engineers are working to ensure backup power supply schemes where possible. They have already started restoration work where the security situation allows. The assessment of the extent of damage is ongoing," the agency said.
As a reminder, after the nighttime drone attack, Russian troops launched cruise missiles at Ukraine from ships in the Black Sea and strategic bombers from several regions of the Russian Federation. There have been confirmed hits in Kharkiv and Volyn, and there is damage in several regions due to falling debris from downed targets.
During this attack, Russia used a total of 188 air attack weapons, of which the defenders of the sky shot down 114 – 79 missiles and 35 drones (another 62 were lost locally).
As OBOZ.UA reported, after the massive Russian attack on November 17, the power sector was able to restore most of the electricity supply in a few days. However, the system remains vulnerable, and large-scale investments and structural reforms are needed to stabilize it, so blackouts will continue to be necessary to support the power system.
