The child star of "Titanic" confessed how much he earned for appearing in one of the most successful films in history: he still receives money

Reece Thompson, 32, who played a minor role as a child in "Titanic", still gets paid for short episodes in James Cameron's film. He was only 5 years old when the actor's parents were given a choice: he could play in a commercial or appear in a drama about a shipwreck.

According to Business Insider, Reece's mom decided that Cameron's project was "cool," so she took the boy there. He got the role of a young passenger from Ireland who died with his mother and sister when the "Titanic" went down.

Although the role was small, his character was memorable to the audience. Reece appeared in three scenes of the cult movie.

As the actor told the media, over 25 years, he earned a total of about 30 thousand dollars. He continues to receive money now but in small amounts.

"It's not like, 'When am I going to get another check? When it happens, I think: 'Oh, cool, another $100,'" Thompson said.

Most of the time, an actor who plays a minor character receives a few hundred dollars a year, but during the peak of the movie's popularity, the amounts were much higher. It all depends on how many people continue to watch the movie every year.

Currently, the "Titanic" star doesn't work in the media but earns his living as the head of the marketing department at a ski resort in Utah. He barely remembers acting in the movie but continues to receive nice bonuses for it.
