The big advantage of the iPhone 16 for users has become known
One of the biggest complaints of Apple users is the long-standing difficulty in accessing repairs. And, accordingly, its high price, is often comparable to the cost of a new gadget when it comes to the same iPhone smartphones.
And it seems that the manufacturer has listened to these complaints. According to iTech.ua, the new iPhone 16 will receive updated terms of the self-repair program. In addition, the design of the phones has been simplified. Now, if you want to repair it yourself, the iPhone will be easy to open from the front or back.
When designing the iPhone 16, Apple was guided by three principles: durability, repairability, and regular updates. This time, it is not only about updating the software but also about improving the conditions for fixing hardware breakdowns.
This will make it easier to remove the battery in the iPhone 16. Previously, it was glued on and it took considerable effort to remove it. Now, the battery will be placed on an "ionic liquid glue" that loses its properties at low voltage – a regular 9 V battery is enough for this. This innovation is probably related to the new European law on replacing batteries in gadgets.
In addition, iOS 18 has a new feature called Repair Assistant. It will help both wizards and ordinary users to customize components. Many problems can now be solved without contacting Apple. For example, users will now be able to configure the TrueDepth camera without connecting to Macs. This feature will be available for iPhone 12 models.
Moreover, the TrueDepth camera for the iPhone 16 can be removed from another iPhone 16 or 16 Pro. Access to some other components in the iPhone 16 Pro will also be simplified. The new Apple Diagnostics for Repair tool in iOS 18 will allow you to identify technical problems and determine which parts need to be replaced.
Support for third-party and used components has also been improved for the new iPhones. If you install such a part on your gadget, you will be able to calibrate it through Apple's cloud resources and get the appropriate marking in the repair history. Although third-party components cannot be calibrated using official resources, the iPhone 16 will try to activate each part to ensure its maximum functionality. Thus, Apple has announced that in the next updates, third-party displays will receive support for True Tone, and third-party batteries will receive status support in the OS.
