The long-awaited sequel to Dune hasn't even been released yet, and it's already breaking movie records. In particular, the movie Dune: Part Two, which is scheduled to premiere in Ukraine on February 29, has almost overtaken the legendary Shawshank Redemption in the IMDb rating.
The sci-fi novelty has already been called "the best movie of all time". This was reported by the Daily Star.
Although "Shawshank Redemption," starring Morgan Freeman, took the top spot on the platform, displacing "The Godfather" in 2008, it now risks losing to the new Timothy Chalamet film "Dune: Part Two".
Critics called the film "visually breathtaking" and "an epic story" before its release in theaters.
At the time of writing, "Dune: Part Two" has 9.1 points out of 10 on IMDb, while "Shawshank Redemption" has 9.3 points. The sequel has outperformed some of the highest-grossing films, including Titanic and Avatar.
Starring Zendaya and Austin Butler along with Timothy Chalamet playing the title character. The sequel shows how Paul Atrides teams up with Chani and Freeman to take revenge on the people who destroyed his family. The movie takes place in a quasi-post-apocalyptic desert society. The plot is based on a series of bestsellers by Frank Herbert.
