The best cars for six passengers: ideal for families
Many drivers prefer compact suburban cars and small SUVs because of their versatility and maneuverability. But for many people, a small back seat simply doesn't provide enough space. Large families, sports teams, and work crews need space for at least six people to ride comfortably.
That's why US News has ranked the best six-passenger cars. The ranking was based on overall car ratings, as well as interior ratings, including seat comfort.
Kia Carnival
This minivan seats seven people as standard, although an eight-seat version is available. All seats are spacious enough for adults, and the two rear rows fold down to create additional luggage space. An 8-inch touchscreen and smartphone compatibility also come as standard. The Carnival is also equipped with seven USB ports and a passenger view camera. It offers a long list of standard safety features, including rear cross-traffic alert and pedestrian detection.
Cadillac Escalade
The new Cadillac Escalade has standard seven-seat seating in every trim level. The interior combines quality materials with the latest technology, including a large 16.9-inch touchscreen. Wireless smartphone compatibility and wireless smartphone charging also come as standard. The model offers three powerful engine options, including a standard 420-horsepower V8. Safety features include front and rear pedestrian detection and Teen Driver, which allows you to set limits on variables such as speed and sound volume.
Jeep Wagoneer
The standard equipment of the updated Wagoneer includes eight seats and a spacious luggage compartment for all your gear. In addition to a 10.1-inch touchscreen and wireless smartphone compatibility, the Wagoneer also feels good off the pavement and can offer features like adaptive cruise control and rear cross-traffic alert.
Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid
Despite its rather high price, this hybrid has a high-efficiency rate of 2.9 liters per 100 kilometers in equivalent when running on electricity. The Pacifica has a range of 50 kilometers on electric power, and after switching to gasoline, it consumes almost 8 liters per 100 kilometers when driving in city or highway conditions. The Pacifica Hybrid seats seven people and has a long list of standard features. A 10.1-inch touchscreen with support for wireless smartphones is included in all trims.
Hyundai Palisade
The 2023 Hyundai Palisade is one of the best all-around midsize SUVs. As standard, the Palisade seats seven people, but it can be configured to seat eight by folding down the second row. The third row is praised for its comfort for adult passengers on short trips. Standard tech features include a 12.3-inch touchscreen, smartphone compatibility, five USB ports, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. Cross-traffic alert, pedestrian and cyclist detection, and adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go are standard driver assistance features.
Kia Telluride
This model is designed for eight people, but the second row can be folded down to turn it into two very comfortable seats. However, the third row is better left to children - it is still a bit cramped. But the Telluride boasts increased cargo space. A 12.3-inch touchscreen, smartphone compatibility, and five USB ports are standard. The Telluride also comes with Highway Driving Assist, which is an adaptive cruise control system with built-in lane centering.
Lincoln Navigator
The Navigator is one of the best all-around options with a luxurious interior and comfortable seats in all rows. Comfortable second-row seats come standard, but you can replace them with an optional multi-seat to increase the total seating capacity to eight. Standard features include a 13.2-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone compatibility, five USB ports, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. There is only one engine: 440-horsepower V6. The car surprises with unusual fuel economy for its class.
Rivian R1S
It is a luxury electric SUV of the highest class with enough space for an entire sports team and its luggage. The R1S seats up to seven people in three rows and has a total cargo space of 2950 liters. The cabin is generally spacious and comfortable, but getting into the cramped third row can be a challenge for an adult. The R1S comes standard with many high-end technologies, including wireless device charging and six USB ports. However, using the touchscreen infotainment system can be annoying and distracting. This luxury SUV is expensive, but it offers powerful acceleration and excellent handling on and off the road.
Honda Odyssey
This minivan is regularly ranked among the best in its class. In any configuration, it seats eight people, and its third row is comfortable even for adult passengers. The basic equipment includes an 8-inch touchscreen, smartphone compatibility, and two USB ports. There are many family-friendly features, including a cabin sound system, CabinWatch rear seat monitoring system, and CabinControl, which allows the driver to control the rear seat entertainment and climate control systems.
Ram 1500
Unexpectedly, the first place on this list was taken by a pickup truck. The Ram 1500 can accommodate up to six passengers with a Crew Cab and front multi-seat. There are many options and configurations for the model, including four engine options and a long list of safety features. However, even the basic configuration will delight you with a high-quality and comfortable interior. The model's standard touchscreen is only 5 inches in size, but it is easy to use.
