The best among all countries! Ukraine won the medal standings of the Winter Deaflympics for the first time in history

The Ukrainian national team of athletes with hearing problems won the final medal standings of the XX Winter Deaflympics 2023, which took place in Erzurum, Turkey, from March 2 to 12. A total of 598 athletes from 36 countries took part in the competition.
Over the ten days of competition, our team won a record 19 medals for Ukraine: ten gold, five silver, and four bronze. China came in second (7 gold medals), and Austria took third place (6 top awards).
The Ukrainian team included 36 athletes who competed in five sports: cross-country skiing, alpine skiing, snowboarding, curling, and chess – all except futsal, which will make its debut in the Deaflympics program this year, reports Supilne.
Before that, Ukraine had participated in five Winter Deaflympics: in 1999, 2003, 2007, 2015, and 2019. In total, in the history of participation in the Deaflympics, the Blue and Yellows have won 27 medals: 4 gold, 14 silver, and 9 bronze.
At the last Deaflympics 2019, Ukrainians won 11 medals (4+4+3) in two sports.
