The age when people feel the happiest has been named: it's not 20!
At the age of 45, the British are undergoing an amazing transformation, feeling healthier and happier than ever before. The secrets of this midlife peak have been revealed.
Researchers commissioned by Weetabix conducted a survey of 2,000 Britons aged 40 to 50 and found that 76% of them experienced a real explosion of energy in midlife. They said they had never felt healthier or happier. And 45 years, the current age of Kourtney Kardashian, Kate Hudson, Chris Pratt, and Jason Momoa, has become the golden number.
The survey also found that the top signs of prosperity in middle-aged people are going to the gym (24%), learning a language (14%), starting meditation (13%) and traveling (10%).
Other ways to feel your best in your 40s include practicing yoga (13%), hiking (12%), volunteering for charity (11%), and even moving abroad (6%).
Overall, 54% insist that mind and body care is a priority when you reach 40, with a quarter of middle-aged Brits insisting that feeling your best also includes starting the day with healthy habits.
77% of those surveyed are more satisfied with their lives after the age of 40, with 65% saying it comes down to not caring what others think of you and 59% saying they now know what's really important in life.
And 46% attribute this to feeling happier in their relationships, while 37% admit that they no longer feel the need to compete with others.
As many as 62% are trying to improve their physical condition in midlife, with a quarter (27%) insisting that they are in better shape than when they were in their twenties and thirties.
The study also shows that almost a third (32%) of people aged 40-59 are making more effort to watch what they eat now that they are older, with a preference for sufficient vitamins and nutrients in their diet.
