Telegram has experienced a glitch: services are slowing down

In the afternoon of March 12, the Telegram messenger experienced a glitch. The app is slow and frequently refreshes.

In addition, sending messages, downloading chats, and interacting with bots are slowed down. The problems are evidenced by data from the Downdetector website.

Earlier, Telegram reported that it had received a list of "potentially problematic" channels from the Ukrainian authorities. Experts are currently checking their content for compliance with the messenger's rules.

A company representative noted that Telegram is a safe messenger for Ukrainians and users in other countries.

"Our applications are open source, and the encryption protocol is fully documented, so any researcher can independently verify its integrity and implementation," he assured.

At the same time, Yaroslav Yurchyshyn, MP and chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Freedom of Speech, said that Telegram is actively used to spread Russian disinformation. However, the network's administration does not cooperate with the Ukrainian authorities in blocking channels and accounts that spread fake news.

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, in February, the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine stated that the popular Telegram messenger, contains a number of threats to Ukraine's security. It is now necessary to look for ways to solve this problem.
