Take it off immediately: what clothes and why you can't wear during the flight
For many people, flying between cities or countries is a rather stressful process. It's not just about fatigue, hustle and bustle, long lines, and careful travel arrangements, but also about certain difficulties before boarding the plane.
There can be some trouble at the airport screening stage, as passengers are not always responsible for their preparation or do not know certain nuances. Blogger Laurie, who provides advice to travelers on her Travel Tips by Laurie channel, has listed the items of clothing that should not be worn during security screening to avoid such a situation, The Daily Mail reports.
According to the expert, who calls herself a "pilot's wife," you should never tie a shirt, jacket, or sweater around your waist. Laurie explained that this will only delay the passenger during the inspection by the air harbor staff.
"You can't tie anything around your waist," the blogger said, "Just put it in your bag or wear it on the plane.
Moreover, she advised against wearing sequins on your clothes or hand luggage when flying, as it can also delay security checks.
It is noteworthy that the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) recently explained why you should not wear things with sequins.
"Sequins, beads, and shiny threads. If your sweater has anything like this on it, it often triggers our security systems and requires additional screening," the agency said. The TSA did not explain why sweaters should not be tied around the waist.
Meanwhile, American Airlines flight attendant Andrea Fischbach, in a commentary to Who What Wear, recommended that travelers also avoid wearing fringed clothing. She explained that such items increase the risk of deep vein thrombosis (DVT). Moreover, products with fringes put passengers at risk in the event of an emergency such as an outbreak on board.
"You need to feel as comfortable as possible to avoid cramps, swelling, and anything else that could affect your health," the flight attendant said, "And in the event of an emergency, there is always a risk with long fringes that a fire could break out on the plane.
The flight attendant, among other things, recommended to choose clothes with long sleeves, as well as to refrain from heels, massive accessories, shoes with rivets and a large number of metal jewelry.
