Svitolina secured a resounding victory at the Australian Open-2024
Ukraine's top-ranked player Elina Svitolina continued her winning performance at the first Grand Slam tournament of the season, the Australian Open 2024. Our compatriot easily overcame the second round of the competition, defeating Bulgaria's Victoria Tomova.
It took Svitolina 65 minutes and two games to win, 6-1, 6-3. During this time, the Odessan made one service ace, won 25 active games and converted six out of seven breakpoints. Our compatriot had one double fault and 18 unforced errors.
Elina's rival in the battle to reach the 1/8 finals will be the winner of the pair Kateryna Siniakova (Czech Republic) - Victoria Holubych (Switzerland). It should be noted that two more Ukrainian representatives, Marta Kostiuk and Lesia Tsurenko, made it to the third round of the Australian Open-2024 the day before.
We would like to add that Svitolina's best result on Melbourne courts was reaching the quarterfinals in 2018 and 2019.
