Stranger Things will have mini-movies in the fifth season: new details are revealed

Thus, one of the main actors of the show, Finn Wolfhard, who portrayed Mike Wheeler on the screen, told Collider that the episodes of the final season will last longer than usual. They will resemble a full-length movie in terms of time and action. "It's definitely a long season. Not every episode is like a full-length movie, but this year there will definitely be some episodes that are as long as a movie," the actor said.

According to him, in this way the creative team of Stranger Things wants to provide each of the characters with a worthy ending. In another interview, Wolfhard compared the final season of the show to The Lord of the Rings.

The actor called the last day of filming very emotional for everyone on the set. The actors said goodbye to the project they had been working on for 9 years, and the lead actors, who were children at the beginning of filming, had time to grow up and mature. "These are the last 10 years of my life. The show's creators, the Duffer brothers, were 30 years old when filming started, and now they are 40. We have gone through this long journey together. I spent my whole childhood there," Wolfgang explained.

It is currently known that the filming of Season 5 ended in December 2024 and post-production is underway. There is no exact release date for the new episodes yet, but the final season is expected to debut on Netflix in the fall. It will consist of eight episodes. They are likely to be released in two parts with a break between them.

It is known that the events of the Stranger Things finale will take place in 1987, a year after the events of the fourth season finale. The Duffer brothers promised that the season would focus on the story of Will Byers. In this way, the showrunners will try not to repeat the mistakes of the Game of Thrones authors, who completely failed to complete the epic show.
