Square shoes, tracksuits and wide jeans: what was in fashion in the 90s. Photos and video
A lot of 90s trends remain forgotten even though fashion is cyclical. Acid-colored leggings, wide jeans, and square-toe shoes seem like clumsy elements of the look now, but more than 30 years ago, everyone was a fan of them.
An old video, a segment of a TV program about 90s fashion, which showed all the most fashionable things of that time, has surfaced online. OBOZ.UA decided to get nostalgic together with the users.
Boys sweater
Both women and men of different ages were once fond of a colorful stretchy sweater with the words Boys and a bright print. It was worn to school, work, and meetings with friends.
Sports suits
The wide "Olympic" shirt and pants that could be removed in one swift movement were a real hit at the time. While the top of such a suit could be of different colors and brands, the bottom always remained black.
Women also had a pair of acid leggings that caught the eye from afar. Green, yellow, pink, purple and other bright shades were considered trendy.
Crimson jacket
In the 90s, classic suits were worn not only on holidays but also on a daily basis. The most fashionable options were crimson, oversized and with massive padding under the shoulders.
Wide jeans
You could buy a pair of trendy jeans in a store, but they were much more commonly sought after at bazaars. There, friendly saleswomen would gladly invite customers to try on the goods.
Square-toe shoes
Modern fashion doesn't allow combinations of sportswear and classic black shoes when it comes to casual or formal style. In the '90s, no one cared, so a square pair could be seen in combination with a tracksuit, "boiled" jeans, crimson jackets, etc.
