Some features are missing: what are the main differences between iPhone 16E and iPhone 16

Alina MilsentNews

Apple has unveiled the new iPhone 16E. Although the smartphone has a 48-megapixel wide-angle camera, like the standard iPhone 16, this model lacks several important features.

MacRumors has explained how the iPhone 16E differs from the 16. Some functionality limits the ability to take wide shots and macro photos.

What the iPhone 16E lacks

The iPhone 16E's camera supports 1X and 2x zoom thanks to its 48-megapixel Fusion sensor. However, there's no telephoto lens, which means there's no way to zoom in more. There's also no ultra-wide-angle camera, which limits the ability to capture wide shots and macro photos.

Due to the presence of only one lens, the iPhone 16E does not support spatial image and video capture.

Despite its simplified configuration, the camera is equipped with True Tone Flash, Photonic Engine, Deep Fusion, and Smart HDR 5 technologies. However, it lacks support for next-generation portraits with focus control and the latest photographic styles.

When taking portraits, the user can adjust the focus after the picture is taken, but it is impossible to change the subject by pressing, as it is implemented in the iPhone 16. Also, the Photographic Styles feature is only available on the iPhone 16, 16 Pro, and 16 Pro Max models, while the iPhone 16E only supports presets.

Video recording

The iPhone 16E lacks Cinema Mode and Action Mode, which offer advanced video recording capabilities. However, the new model still has the Audio Mix function.

Front camera

The front camera of the iPhone 16E has the same set of features as the iPhone 16, with the exception of cinematic mode, photo styles, and depth control for portrait photos.

As a result, the iPhone 16E is a more affordable version of the iPhone 16 with basic camera features, which is suitable for those who do not need additional features for professional photography and video.
