Tourist locations in Slovakia and Slovenia

Have you ever noticed that these completely different countries, which do not even border each other, are often confused by tourists? Although their names are similar, they are very different in nature. They have completely different cultures, architecture, nature, food, etc. Today, we offer to take a trip to the places of these regions. Buy tickets and memorize the locations you need to go to after crossing the border.

Slovakia

Let's start with our close neighbor, which has no megacities at all. And that's even a good thing. They are very tiring and do not allow you to relax and have a good rest. This will not happen here. Every town and village will greet you with comfort and tranquility.

Although the country is quite small in size, it easily combines all kinds of familiar leisure activities, except for the sea. Here you can go skiing, visit ancient castles, explore ice caves, admire snow-capped canyons, and go to authentic restaurants to enjoy the national cuisine.

First of all, we advise you to go to Bratislava, which is located very close to the Austrian city of Vienna. So close that a tram ran between the two cities in 1945. The capital of Slovakia is very small. It takes 20 minutes to walk around its center. But do not rush to do so because every corner is a magical combination of medieval classics and modernity.

Stop and take a leisurely look around the Old Town Hall, then walk to the Michael's Tower, and check out the Gothic St. Martin's Cathedral and the Archbishop's Palace. Be sure to visit Bratislava Castle, which dates back to the tenth century.

Next, head to Košice, which is a favorite of young people. The average age of its residents does not exceed 35 years. Therefore, you will definitely not be bored here. In addition to youth entertainment, there are plenty of interesting attractions. The Opera House, the Plague Column, the Dominican Monastery, the Jesuit Church, and the residence of František II. Rákoci are worthy of your attention.

Finally, we advise you to go to at least one ski resort in the country. There are about 15 of them. Therefore, both beginners and professionals will find suitable routes for themselves. The main places for recreation: Jasná, Javorovica, Tále, Žďár, Smokovec, Tatranská Lomnica, Bachledova Deny, and Štrbské Pleso.

We guarantee that Slovakia will surprise you with good service, developed infrastructure and reasonable prices for entertainment.

Slovenia

Next, we are heading to the republic that lies between the Alps and the Balkans. The country appeared on the maps relatively recently. It used to be a part of Yugoslavia, but after a difficult struggle for independence, the Slovenes managed to defend their freedom and rights. But even after gaining this status, the region remained in the shadows.

Only recently has it become a popular vacation destination. The reason is not so trivial: the elections in the United States. It turned out that Donald Trump's wife, Melania, comes from this very place. At the same time, Paulo Coelho's fans may recall his novel Veronica Decides to Die, which was set in the Slovenian city of Ljubljana.

In fact, Slovenia has always been visited by avid travelers because it has some of the best ski resorts in Europe. If you want to go skiing, you will have plenty to choose from. For families with children, Kranjska Gora is a good choice. Bovec is for those who are confident as it has the highest slopes equipped with modern jumps and obstacles. Rogla is for professional skiers who love to freeride.

We advise both children and adults to go to Lake Bled and visit the Church of St. Mary. The shrine is located in the middle of the reservoir on a small island. The ancient architecture and local landscapes will stun you with their beauty. In addition to the church, there is a medieval castle on the rocky shore, which offers an incredible panorama. Going up there is a must for tourists.

Do not ignore the city of Piran, where every building is breathing with history and the past. Visit everything you can: monuments, museums, cathedrals. You can also wander the streets, making sure to keep your memories in your photos.

We also recommend visiting Ljubljana, Predjem, Maribor, and Geverkenegu. Each of the outposts is special. The location alone is worth it. They all stand on the hills, offering a charming view.

It is worth noting that the country is small even by European standards. So don't be afraid to add many locations to your list of stops. It's quite possible to get around them during a weekend or a short vacation.

Slovakia and Slovenia are very different countries with their own unique architecture, rich history, and distinctive nature. See for yourself. As soon as you have the opportunity, plan your trip to these countries. We are sure you will not regret it for a minute.
