Six reliable used cars under $10,000: the choice of a car mechanic

Buying a car on the secondary market is always a lottery. There is a risk of buying a model that will require constant additional costs and repairs. The trust of drivers is worth a lot, but it's even more important to hear the opinion of experts on this issue.

Famous mechanic and car expert David Long has published a rating of the best used cars that are reliable and of high quality. These models will be a guaranteed investment, as they lose little in value over the years. Please note that car prices are relevant for the US market.

Buick LeSabre (2000-2005)

The car has a 3.8-liter V6 engine in an automatic transmission. According to Long, the likelihood of this car breaking down is much lower than in other models, and if it does, you shouldn't worry, because spare parts are inexpensive and available. The car can easily reach a mileage of 500,000 to 650,000 km over its entire service life, and it can be purchased at a low price of up to $5,000. Long recommends buying models produced between 2000 and 2005, but notes that other options are also of high quality and durable.

Chevy Silverado or GMC Sierra (1999-2006)

Used models are sold on the secondary market for between $5,000 and $10,000. The cars have a 4.8 or 5.3-liter LS-based V8 engine, manual or automatic transmission.

Lexus RX 350 (2004-2009)

Similar to the LeSabres, the RX 350 has 30 MPG with a 3.3 V6 or 3.5 V6 engine. They can be purchased on the secondary market for up to $10,000. This midsize SUV has a 3.3-liter or 3.5-liter V6 engine.

Ford Crown Victoria (human. 1998-2012)

"These cars are the epitome of bulletproof. They are incredibly reliable," Long emphasized. This is a high-quality, comfortable and easy-to-maintain model. However, Long clarified that despite the 4.6 V8 and automatic transmission, this car shows high fuel consumption.

"There are a few vehicles that use this platform, but this is one of the best, if not the best platform that Ford Motor Company has ever created in the history of the company. It is definitely a trouble-free car," Long summarized.

Lexus LS 400 (1996-2000)

"Lexus LS 400s are literally tanks. They are extremely reliable," Long said.

The car has a four-liter V8 and an automatic transmission. The price ranges from $5,000 to $10,000.

Toyota Highlander (2001-2007)

According to Long, Highlanders offer excellent fuel economy. The car has a 2.44-cylinder three-liter V6 engine. Reliability, quality, durability, economy - it's all about Toyota Highlander.
