Ryazan refinery joins the list of Russian enterprises attacked by Ukraine

On the night of May 1, explosions occurred at the Ryazan oil refinery. Another energy enterprise of the aggressor state was attacked by drones, and a massive fire broke out at the facility after the hit.

The damage to another Russian oil refinery was the result of a successful special operation by the Main Intelligence Directorate. This was reported to OBOZ.UA by sources in the special services.

"As a result of the operation of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine on the night of May 1, Russian Ryazan oil refinery was hit by a UAV," the source said.

According to eyewitnesses, the fire at the Ryazan refinery was preceded by at least four powerful explosions. They occurred at a time when the "danger of drones" was declared in the Ryazan region.

Also, according to the source, social media users reported the presence of drones in the sky over the Voronezh region. Air defense systems were also operating there, and the media reported damage to houses in the region, allegedly as a result of one of the aircraft-type drones being shot down.

The governor of the Ryazan region, Pavel Malkov, claimed that there was only one drone, continuing the usual mantra of "no casualties."

It is known that the Ryazan oil refinery, owned by Rosneft, processes up to 18 million tons of oil per year. Most of the refinery's output is exported.

This enterprise was already attacked by drones in March of this year. It happened early in the morning on March 13. Eyewitnesses heard several explosions and then saw a column of thick smoke over the enterprise. At the time, there were reports of casualties as a result of the strike.

The day before, on April 30, Politico stated that as a result of the Ukrainian attacks on the refinery, Russia had reduced its fuel exports to an almost historic low. The journalists were surprised to note that the Ukrainian strikes had made what no one could have believed before a reality, namely "leaving the world’s largest petrostate running low on petrol."

Diesel prices for Russian consumers have risen by 10% over the past week. Gasoline prices, which have risen by more than 20% since the beginning of the year, have already reached a six-month high.
