Seven things that should never be left in a car in the heat

Maryna PohorilkoNews
High temperatures can damage things in the car

During periods of extreme heat, certain items should not be left in the car. In addition to the risk of theft, there is also the risk of heat damage from the sun, which can even make some items dangerous.

Others, such as various electronics, can break down. So, OBOZ.UA provides 7 things that should never be left in a hot car.

1. Aerosol cans. Most of them should be stored in a ventilated area at temperatures below 30 degrees Celsius. The contents of aerosol cans, such as hairspray, sunscreen, or spray paint, expand in the heat. This creates a risk of explosion. Therefore, remove the cans from the vehicle immediately after returning home.

2. Medicines. Most medicines should be stored at room temperature to avoid losing their effectiveness. In addition, creams and ointments can melt. Therefore, try to plan a visit to the pharmacy at the end of your business trip, just before you head home.

3. Sunscreen. This product can also lose its effectiveness under the influence of high temperatures, as well as melt and leak. If you like to keep sunscreen handy in the car but don't want it smeared all over the interior, try a mineral powder sunscreen that comes with a brush. This way, you'll avoid messy smudges while protecting your skin from the sun's harmful rays.

4. Hand sanitizer. On the Internet, you can find information that this product can explode or catch fire if left in a hot car. However, this is unlikely, as alcohol-based products can spontaneously combust at temperatures of at least 315 degrees Celsius. However, as with other materials, heat can reduce or eliminate the effectiveness of the product.

5. Food: Food can quickly deteriorate when exposed to extreme temperatures. Some foods simply "melt", such as chocolate and ice cream, while others simply spoil. As with medicines, go home after going to the grocery store.

6. Drinks. Warm water or other beverages in plastic bottles are not only tasteless but also harmful – chemicals contained in plastic can leach into drinking water when exposed to extreme heat. Instead, keep your water in a thermos and enjoy cold, fresh water.

7. Glasses. If you leave your glasses in the car for a long time, they will become too hot and you risk damaging the frame. They should be stored in a case.

As reported by OBOZ.UA:

– Due to the heat, the energy level of all of us drops, because the body has to work harder to maintain homeostasis - we can say that this is the body's desire to maintain the stability of the internal environment, despite external factors. To avoid fatigue and heat stroke, you should follow a few recommendations.

– During periods of extreme temperatures, it is especially important to ensure the safety and comfort of children. UNICEF has provided several recommendations to prevent the negative impact of heat on children's bodies.
