The small kingdom has something to surprise tourists with. The state can boast not only delicious chocolate, but also recreation areas. To know what destination to choose in the summer, read below.

Oostende

The village is located on the shore of the North Sea. It takes more than an hour to get here from Brussels. In high season, the settlement turns into a real tourist center.

The main beach is 9 kilometers long and covered with fine golden sand. Here you can not only sunbathe and swim, but also spend active time: ride water rides, play volleyball or cricket. Toilets, showers and changing rooms are arranged for travelers. There are also lifeguards who will inform you about changes in weather and currents in advance. In the evening, the coast comes alive. Music festivals, theatrical performances and laser shows are constantly organized here.

If you are traveling with children, then be sure to go to Disney Sand Magic - sand sculpture park. Here kids can get to know their favorite cartoon characters.

During a walk around the city, visit the Church of Saints Peter and Paul. Its features trace the lines and character of Cologne Cathedral. It is also famous for its neo-Gothic interior with ornate spires. Inside is the tomb of the first queen of Belgium, Louise Marie of Orleans. The walls of the shrine are decorated with stained glass windows of almost all the rulers of the kingdom. There are no only portraits of Philip I and Albert II.

We also advise you to visit the Atlantic rampart - a large complex of bunkers and tunnels. It was created during the Second World War from 1940 to 1944. The length of the defensive structure is impressive. It curls along the Antique coast for 4000 kilometers.

It is also recommended to go to the museum ship Mercator. It was made in Scotland and later handed over to the Belgians. Once it was used to train young trainee officers, now it is visited by tourists. Here you can enter the sailors' quarters, galley, control rooms and engine room.

Art lovers will definitely enjoy Mu.Zee. There is a collection of outstanding artists since 1830.

De Panne

The village is located on the North Sea coast in the province of West Flanders. It is one of the most popular resort centers of the country. The beach of the same name is located near the French border. Interestingly, there is a streetcar running along the coastline, the final stop of which is at the Dutch customs.

Here you can often meet connoisseurs of surfing and yachting. The location is also great for hiking and biking.

Despite the mild maritime climate, it is not hot. The water temperature does not exceed 20°C. The territory of the beach is equipped with sun beds, umbrellas, children's and sports grounds. There are also golf areas. On the seafront, as it is supposed to be, there are private villas, exquisite hotels and restaurants.

Be sure to visit Plopsaland De Panne, an amusement park. It was first opened in 1935. Back then, it was bee-themed. The attraction worked until 1999 and closed for renovation, but not for long. Subsequently, in 2000, it began to receive guests again. Currently, the complex consists of 62 types of entertainment.

We also recommend going to the water park Plopsaqua De Panne. There are many slides, outdoor and indoor pools, as well as cafes. We definitely recommend a trip to the Art Center Ten Bogaerde museum. The XIII century barn was converted into an art center. The works of Georges Grard, a famous Belgian sculptor, are kept here.

Fans of military themes are invited to visit Museum Cabour WO II and 2/4 Lansiers. The exhibition hall presents different types of exhibits related to the events of the First and Second World Wars. In particular, clothing, weapons, open-air tents, transportation, etc.

Knokke-Heist

The municipality is located in the province of West Flanders. It is the most expensive and famous resort in the country. The beach extends for 12 kilometers. There are separate wild zones, where you can not only walk, but also have a picnic. Some parts of the coast are equipped with tents from the wind. There are also several cafes.

If you are looking for more sophisticated places, go to Zoutestrand, Yello Sail or Riverwoods. The locations are close to luxury hotels, restaurants, and casinos. Sun beds, umbrellas and a DJ in charge of the musical atmosphere are available for tourists. In the evening, parties are often organized here.

For active entertainment, go to Surfers Paradise. Here you can paraglide, surf, and dine in a tropical themed cafe.

For hiking or biking, choose the Zwin Nature Reserve. It was created back in 1952. There is an amazing butterfly garden with about 400 exotic species. We recommend taking an excursion with a professional guide-ornithologist. They will tell you about the peculiarities and lifestyle of the seabirds living here.

If you prefer historical locations, go to For Freedom Museum. Here you will find exhibits from the Second World War: uniforms, vehicles, airplane parts, etc.
