Among all genres, there are few that make you watch a movie from the first seconds to the final credits without taking a break. To be so engaging, a movie needs to have an exciting, non-trivial plot and play with the audience's imagination, keeping them on their toes with the unexpected decisions of the characters.

Such stories can be found in movies about ingenious crimes, the scams of the century, which are thought out to the smallest detail and often leave the thieves with everything. OBOZ.UA has compiled a list of movies and TV series that can boast of badass and smart criminals.

Catch Me If You Can

Based on real events, the movie about a young fraudster Frank Abagnale, who impersonated a pilot, a doctor, and even a lawyer, will allow viewers to look into a brilliant mind. In the '60s, the FBI brought together its best detectives to catch a mysterious criminal who, with his charisma and advanced intelligence beyond his years, stole an impressive three million dollars from American banks. But Frank turned out to be smarter - he gained the trust of the criminologists and even managed to escape from custody.

Ocean's Eleven

Planning a robbery of three casinos in Las Vegas is not an easy task, but it becomes easier when 11 people with different but equally important abilities are involved. The movie not only shows how the dangerous scam is carried out, but also has a number of great jokes.

Money Heist

The Spanish series about a group of criminals planning a robbery of the Royal Spanish Mint became a phenomenon in its time. The series captivates with its dynamics, unexpected twists and charismatic characters, and surprises with the thoughtfulness of the robbery, which could not be stopped even after surrounding the building from all sides.

Inventing Anna

The series tells the story of Anna Delvey (Julia Garner), a young woman who arrives in New York and impersonates a wealthy heiress from Germany. She quickly gains the trust of the society's elite by using her charm, ingenuity, and false documents. Without a penny to her name, Anna makes everyone around her believe in her privilege and lives bold.

Parasite

The South Korean black comedy thriller has been recognized by both critics and audiences around the world, winning the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival and four Academy Awards. The film, with its atypical plot, tells the story of a poor family that gets a job using cunning methods and parasitizes on the wealth of the rich.
