Ukrposhta managed to earn more than UAH 3 million at the auction of its cars. Thus, more than one and a half times the initial price was earned on rare cars alone.

This was announced by Ukrposhta CEO Ihor Smelyansky on his Telegram channel. He explained that as of April 30 alone, 7 auctions of vintage cars took place, which resulted in UAH 3,281,070, with a starting price of UAH 2,049,027. Thus, the price increase at the auction was more than 60%. Three more auctions are scheduled for May 1, with a total starting price of UAH 400 thousand. Later, another 500 cars will be sold under the hammer.

It is worth noting that on April 30, a post about the auction was posted on the post office's page on social network X. The company responded to the hate about the auction idea:

"Yes, we put the rotten shit up for auction. No, we didn't f*ck up. Yes, we would like to give it away for free to those who need it, but we have no right. We sell old cars on Prozorro because it is required by law," the tweet read.

The postal director also noted that only 1 participant applied for participation in 6 auctions, so the bidding period was extended by 7 days. Another 3 auctions will be announced again on Thursday morning - participants will have 14 days to submit their bids.

Ihor Smelyansky also reminded that Ukrposhta is a joint-stock company that exists on the revenues it earns and transfers its profits (taxes and dividends) to the budget. That is, the national postal operator receives nothing from the budget, except for the assets that the state has contributed to the capital. Ukraine itself owns 100% of the company's shares.

In addition, Ukrposhta is preparing for a difficult winter at its own expense, buying firewood, stoves, and mobile gas stations to ensure work in remote offices.

"We do not receive any assistance from the state for this purpose and, on the contrary, we will try to pay more taxes and dividends. And my role as CEO is to ensure that our team does this. That is what I will do," Smelyansky summarized.

Finally, he announced auctions to sell old computers used at the post office.

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, Ukrposhta will fully robotize the parcel processing process in the next three months. This will allow sorting 8,000 parcels per hour, 13 times more than with manual work.
