Two-time Olympic champion Sergei Chepikov has accused the International Olympic Committee (IOC) of being under external control. The State Duma deputy criticized the organization for its statement on the war in Israel, in which the IOC called on federations to prevent discrimination against athletes on the basis of nationality.
In a commentary to the propaganda TV channel Russia Today, Chepikov called the IOC's appeal an alleged manifestation of double standards. The former biathlete repeated the traditional narratives of the Russian terrorist state about the so-called unipolar Anglo-Saxon world.
"Unfortunately, the IOC is still under considerable pressure from the Anglo-Saxon world. For this reason, such situations of double standards arise. Russia and the countries that support it are trying to fight the unipolar world system and the resulting duality, as in this case. Everything should be resolved fairly," Chepikov said.
It is worth noting that the IOC's statement about Israel's war against the Hamas group caused a real hysteria among Russians. In particular, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova called it "pure Nazism."
As OBOZ.UA reported, Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin accused the IOC of "ethnic discrimination" against Russians. In response, the organization harshly put the Russian president in his place.
