Russia reports more than three dozen explosions in Taganrog, Rostov region
On the night of January 5, a massive drone attack was reported in the Rostov region of Russia, which Russian air defense forces allegedly successfully repelled. The local authorities admitted only minor damage to the property of citizens. Still, there were more than 30 explosions in Taganrog.
According to the available information, a military airfield was hit in this city. However, Rostov Telegram channels and the acting governor of the region, Yury Slyusar, said otherwise.
In particular, at around midnight on Sunday, the official wrote on Telegram that air defense forces means were "repelling an enemy attack" in the north of Rostov region. He claimed that UAVs had already been destroyed in Millerovsky and Tarasovsky districts.
Later, the Russians were informed about the alleged fall of drone debris in Taganrog and the village of Novobessergenovka in Neklinovsky district. As a result, windows in houses were smashed, and roofs, walls, and cars were damaged. According to the official, "there are nor injuried neither fire."
In the morning, the so-called governor said that Russian air defense "shot down 37 UAVs" in Taganrog, Millerovsky, Tarasovsky and Belokalitvinsky districts overnight.
For their part, Ukrainian monitoring channels indicate that in Taganrog, the drone attack lasted more than two hours and more than 30 explosions were heard there.
"The biggest impact was recorded near the military airfield in the village of Novobessergenovka, Neklinovsky district. There was a massive 'debris fall.' Sources also report that the military airfield itself was hit as well (47.195383, 38.867938)," the statement said.
As reported, on January 4, drones targeted the Baltimore military airfield in Voronezh. Also, the largest Baltic sea trade port of Ust-Luga, located in Russian Leningrad region, came under attack too.
