The aggressor country of Russia has once again claimed that Ukraine has allegedly attempted to attack its territory with aircraft-type drones. They claim that on the night of December 17, they shot down all such targets, which numbered as many as three dozen.
At the same time, the Russians announced a possible hit near the airfield in the Rostov region, where frontline bombers are based. They posted a video of the explosion online.
Residents of the Lipetsk, Rostov and Volgograd regions of the Russian Federation reported a loud night this Sunday. In the morning, the Russian Defense Ministry assured that "33 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles" were "destroyed and intercepted" over the above regions.
The aggressor country's defense ministry assured that it was an attempt by "the Kyiv regime to launch a terrorist attack with the help of UAVs" on their territory. However, he did not go into the details of the attack, as well as did not name the type of drones or show photos of the "downed" vehicles. They did not say anything about the likely consequences or victims.
However, Russians who witnessed the "repulsion" of the attack could not hide their panic. Judging by comments in local channels, the unknown drones reached one of the Russian military airfields in the city of Morozovsk, Rostov region.
Residents reported a loud explosion and a bright flash in the area. According to open sources, the 559th Bomber Aviation Regiment (military unit 75392) is based at the airfield, and Russian frontline bombers Su-24, Su-24M, and Su-34 are stationed there.
Rostov Region Governor Vasily Golubev confirmed that on the morning of December 17, Russian air defense forces "destroyed most" (but obviously not all) of the drones flying over the region, particularly in the area of Morozovsk and Kamensk-Shakhtynsky.
"There were no casualties," he emphasized.
As OBOZ.UA reported, on December 16, it was noisy in the Russian city of Taganrog, where residents noticed a column of black smoke after the explosions. Helicopters were immediately sent into the sky, but the authorities did not comment on the emergency in the city, which Russia uses to redeploy military equipment to the front in Ukraine.
