Russia plans to play with the Euro 2024 national team: UEFA's reaction is known

Next March, the Russian national football team will play against a European national team for the first time since its suspension from international competitions. Valery Karpin's team will spar with Serbia, which is preparing for the 2024 European Championship.

This was stated by the President of the Russian Football Union (RFU) Alexander Dyukov, reports Sport24 portal. According to him, the European Football Union (UEFA) has allegedly approved the holding of such a friendly match, and it will take place in March in the territory of the aggressor country.

"We have agreed with Serbia to hold a friendly match. We have received UEFA's approval. The game is scheduled to take place in Russia. The fact that our national team has not played official matches for two years is bad, but it's not a drama. Weak opponents? You can play with different countries, but it is important that the matches take place in Russia. We want to play games at home. There is a possibility that in 2024 our national team will play against the national team from South America," Dyukov said.

It should be noted that last year the Russians planned to play a sparring match with Bosnia and Herzegovina. However, the latter's players refused to play with representatives of the aggressor country. Since the Russian army invaded Ukraine, the Russian national team has played nine international friendly matches with teams from Asia and Africa.
