The former head coach of Dynamo Kyiv, Mircea Lucescu, has retracted his statement that he is ready to consider working in Russia. The 78-year-old Romanian specialist accused the propagandists of the Sport-Express newspaper of distorting and even inventing his statements about his attitude to the aggressor country.

Lucescu said this in a comment to the SportArena portal. The former coach of Shakhtar, Zenit and Dynamo noted that Russia is an aggressor that brings war, terrorism, death and pain. He urged Ukrainians not to believe the minions of Vladimir Putin's dictatorial regime.

"I want to say once again that I will never return to work in Russia. After what I have seen with my own eyes in Ukraine, this is out of the question. Russia is terrorism, death and pain. This country took away my second home, Donetsk. And it wanted to take away my third - Kyiv. Do not believe everything you see. In my last interview, we talked exclusively about football, and the journalists have already thought of all the other questions and answers - about the war and politics - for me. Remember me as a man who loves Ukraine!" said Lucescu.

The Romanian noted that he does not need any assurances about Russia's innocence in military aggression, because he has seen it himself since 2014. "I worked here in Kyiv with Dynamo and saw with my own eyes all the horrors of war that Russia brought. I didn't leave the team, trained players under air raid alerts and helped evacuate their families. I experienced all this firsthand, so what can we talk about returning to Russia? My main dream now is peace and tranquility in Ukraine. It is safety for Ukrainians, full stadiums and prosperity for this wonderful country," added the former Dynamo coach.

Earlier, the Romanian coach made an emotional statement in an interview with Russian propagandists saying "this is a lie."

As a reminder, Lucescu resigned as Dynamo's head coach after the team's defeat in a fundamental confrontation with Shakhtar Donetsk. After this fiasco, Kyiv remained in seventh place in the UPL standings, 10 points behind the leader. The Romanian took charge of Kyiv in the summer of 2020. Under his leadership, the team once won the Ukrainian league and cup.

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, the media revealed the real reasons why Mircea Lucescu decided to stop working with Dynamo Kyiv.
