The International Federation of Bodybuilding (IFBB) has authorized Russian athletes to compete at the European Championships in Spain under the flag and with the anthem. The tournament will be held in Santa Susana from April 30 to May 5.

The decision to lift the restrictions was made by the IFBB in July 2024. The Russian Bodybuilding Federation has already formed a team of 200 people and received an official invitation from the international federation.

Earlier, in 2023, the Russian national team refused to participate in tournaments in Japan due to a ban on the use of national symbols imposed by local authorities. In 2025, the World Cup will be held in Saudi Arabia and China, where no such restrictions are expected.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, on February 13, Russia was allowed to participate in an international cross-country skiing tournament under its flag for the first time. Three-time Olympic champion Alexander Bolshunov won the Sudtirol Moonlight Classic, which took place in Saiser Alm, Italy. The 28-year-old native of the Bryansk region won the classic 30-kilometer mass start.

After the race, Italian Lorenzo Buzin and Swede Malin Bereshe appeared at the awards ceremony with the Ukrainian flag. The act of the Europeans caused a real stream of bile from the Russians.

Earlier, the Russian national anthem was interrupted at the awards ceremony in honor of Yulia Chumgalakova's victory at the European Boxing Championships in Belgrade. The 26-year-old Muscovite won the 48 kg weight category over Serbian athlete Kristina Nad Varga by a decision of the judges.
