Russia has attacked a power facility in Ukraine, there are interruptions in electricity and heating: what is happening with the schedules
Russia has again attacked a power facility in Odesa, the second attack in two days. As a result, 49 thousand subscribers in Odesa district are without electricity. In Odesa itself, there are interruptions in heating. In general, Ukraine has blackout schedules in place, but only for business and industry.
OBOZ.UA writes about what is happening in the power system on February 20. According to DTEK, Russia attacked the company's energy facility in Odesa region at night.
"The enemy continues the energy terror of Odesa region for the second night in a row," the company said. It added that the power engineers are waiting for permission from the military and rescuers to start emergency repair work.
According to Oleh Kiper, the head of Odesa regional power company, about 5,000 residents of one of Odesa's districts were left without electricity after the last attack. The strike also damaged the heating main and cut off heating to some customers.
"Thanks to the round-the-clock work of power engineers, power supply has been restored to two boiler houses, which have started operating and, after the required heat carrier parameters are reached, heating will gradually return to the homes of those Odessans who have been without heat since yesterday. Critical infrastructure has been powered. So far, 49 thousand subscribers are still without power," explained Kiper on the morning of February 20.
Heating problems have arisen not only in Odesa but also in Mykolaiv. There, 44 residential buildings were left without heat supply as a result of an accident at a thermal power plant after the shelling.
"The consequences of the enemy shelling of the thermal power plant continue. In the morning there was an accident in the system. 44 residential buildings were cut off. Restoration works are already underway," said Vitaliy Kim, head of Mykolaiv Regional State Administration.
Power outage schedule: what mode is in effect on February 20
According to the order of Ukrenergo, today only industrial consumers and businesses are to be cut off from electricity in Ukraine. No scheduled outages are planned for household consumers.
At the same time, the duration of restrictions for businesses has been extended. Thus, on February 20, the schedules will apply from 5:00 to 21:00. For comparison, the day before, the restrictions were imposed only from 6 to 9 am and from 3 to 10 pm. The total number of hours in which the schedules are in effect has increased from 10 to 16. As Poltavaoblenergo clarified, the scope of restrictions has not changed. It is still 5 rounds of outages, just like in the previous days.
"We do not expect any more power outages for household consumers. The reason for the temporary introduction of restrictions is the damage to power facilities as a result of Russian missile and drone attacks," Ukrenergo said in a statement.
However, power engineers warn that the situation may change. In case of non-compliance with the set consumption limits in the regions, Ukrenergo may apply the schedule of emergency power outages (EOO) or the schedule of hourly power outages (HPO) - they apply to household consumers.
In order not to miss important information, you should check for updates on the websites or other official pages of the regional power distribution companies:
Power engineers separately note that the need to save electricity remains for all consumers throughout the day. To do this, it is recommended not to turn on several powerful electrical appliances at the same time (for example, a kettle and a washing machine, a stove and a hairdryer, etc.)
Earlier, OBOZ.UA told you how to find your own blackout schedules and understand the tables. This may be useful if the restrictions also affect household consumers.
