Russia begins tactical nuclear weapon drills: what is going on

The aggressor country Russia has started the first stage of the exercise with practical training and use of tactical nuclear weapons. It takes place in the Southern Military District of the Russian Federation.

This was reported by the Russian Ministry of Defense. The Russian ministry also showed footage from the exercise.

As part of this stage, the enemy will practice combat missions with the Iskander air defense system. In particular, the Russians intend to equip launch vehicles with special ammunition and secretly move to the designated position area to prepare for missile launches.

In addition, the enemy's aviation plans to practice equipping aircraft with Kinzhal hypersonic ballistic missiles with special warheads and flying them to designated patrol areas.

The Russian Defense Ministry said that the exercises are being conducted allegedly in response to "provocative statements and threats" by certain Western officials.

It is worth noting that simultaneously with the start of the tactical nuclear weapons exercise, Russia announced that it was going to unilaterally change the border with Lithuania and Finland in the Baltic Sea.

On May 6, Russia announced the training of non-strategic nuclear forces. The occupiers stated that these drills are aimed at maintaining the readiness of personnel and equipment to respond to "provocative statements and threats" by certain Western officials against the Russian Federation.

Washington reacted to Russia's statements about military drills using tactical nuclear weapons, calling the Kremlin's rhetoric irresponsible. At the same time, the United States stated that it currently sees no signs of preparations to use such weapons in a war against Ukraine.

The EU, for its part, emphasized that the Kremlin is demonstrating its interest in escalation with its recent nuclear threats.
