Along with the general rise in the cost of living, travel is also becoming more expensive. However, there are still destinations in Europe where you can travel on a fairly budget and still have a great, fulfilling vacation.

The Express has published a list of ten European cities where you can enjoy great architecture, culture, and cuisine without leaving all your savings behind. Moreover, each of them will be quite easy and inexpensive to get to.

Warsaw, Poland

Warsaw tops the list of the cheapest cities in Europe. It is incredibly convenient for walking, which means significant savings on public transportation. The historic car-free streets are a pleasure to walk along, and there's a lot to see. The city's main attractions include the Old Town and the Royal Castle.

Krakow, Poland

Another place in the ranking was taken by a Polish city. This time it is Krakow. It offers a rich history and culture and yet budget-friendly prices. From lively parks to bustling nightlife, there's plenty to keep travelers of all ages entertained. Be sure to visit the museum in the former Auschwitz concentration camp, which is located nearby, to make your trip not only memorable but also important.

Český Krumlov, Czech Republic

This fairytale town in Southern Bohemia is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. With its cobblestone streets and medieval architecture, Cesky Krumlov offers visitors the opportunity to step back in time.

Bratislava, Slovakia

Located between Vienna and Budapest, Bratislava is often overlooked by tourists. That's a shame because its affordable attractions and charming old town make it an ideal choice for budget travelers. Thanks to its proximity to the Austrian capital, it's a day trip from Vienna.

Budapest, Hungary

Known as the "spa city", Budapest is famous for its thermal baths. Separated by the Danube River, Buda offers great views, while Pest boasts a lively nightlife. Travelers can enjoy the best of both worlds without spending too much money.

Zagreb, Croatia

Zagreb is Croatia's bustling capital and a key transportation hub. Tourists also flock here to enjoy the inexpensive and extremely tasty beer. Accessible public transportation makes it easy to explore the city, even on a small vacation budget.

Belgrade, Serbia

Belgrade's mix of historical and modern attractions makes it a great choice for a cheap trip to Europe. From ancient fortresses to lively riverside clubs, the Serbian capital is a fantastic destination for people looking for culture and nightlife.

Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina

Sarajevo's unique atmosphere, where east meets west, has earned it the nickname "the Jerusalem of Europe." Known for its religious diversity, the city boasts mosques, churches, and synagogues in close proximity to each other.

Sofia, Bulgaria

Sofia, located at the foot of Vitosha Mountain, is one of the most accessible capitals in Europe. It is often overlooked in favor of ski resorts. But Sofia has a rich history, pedestrianized streets, and inexpensive accommodation for tourists.

Bucharest, Romania

"Little Paris" Bucharest enchants visitors with its French-style architecture and vibrant cultural life. It is comfortable to walk endlessly and admire the sights at any time of the year.
