Apple is preparing to release a new product that is expected to enter the market in 2025. This novelty will be the company's another attempt to conquer the smart home segment after the dubious success of previous products.

The smart display is expected to combine iPad functionality with smart home control capabilities. The gadget promises to offer the versatility that HomePod and Apple TV lack, writes Bloomberg insider and journalist Mark Gurman.

It is known that the device will have a 6-7-inch touchscreen and will run on the A18 chip, similar to the iPhone 16. The display will have a magnetic mount that will allow it to be used stationary or placed on the wall. The main features include access to Apple applications and integration with Apple Intelligence.

Analysts expect the company to ship 500 thousand to 1 million devices in the first year. The new gadget will feature sensors that will adapt the device's functions depending on the presence of people nearby. For example, in the absence of the user, the display will show the temperature, and when approached, it will activate the interface for other settings.

Additional features include a built-in FaceTime camera, speakers, and basic apps such as Safari, Apple Music, and Notes. However, the device will not support the App Store, which indicates its specific positioning.

Insiders also mention a more expensive model of the gadget that will have a robotic arm and functionality for use as a TV. Its presentation will take place later.

The smart display control system will be a mixture of iPhone standby mode and watchOS. The gadget will be controlled mainly by voice, which will enhance integration with other Apple devices.

The first version of the device is expected to go on sale in March 2025. Its development demonstrates Apple's ambitions to strengthen its position in the smart home segment by providing users with practical and aesthetically pleasing solutions.
