Red code issued on easyJet plane with 193 passengers on board as pilot loses consciousness during the flight. All details
One of the pilots of the UK airline easyJet lost consciousness during a flight from London to Lisbon. At the time of the incident, there were 193 passengers on board.
A red code was issued due to an unexpected health problem, the Mirror reports. The signal is given to protect passengers and flight attendants. In such situations, pilots are usually required to make an emergency landing at the nearest designated location.
The plane, which was carrying nearly 200 passengers, took off from London Luton Airport and was headed to Lisbon. However, during the flight, the co-pilot felt unwell and lost consciousness. Panic broke out in the cabin, and the crew had to issue a red code.
Fortunately, the other pilot managed to land safely, so none of the passengers were injured. Upon arrival in the Portuguese capital, the victim was immediately taken to Santa Maria Hospital.
This is not the first time such an incident has occurred among airline employees. Last year, a Ryanair plane made an emergency landing at Faro Airport as one of the pilots felt unwell too.
