Record transfer: Shakhtar sells another player to a Turkish club

Maksym InshakovNews

Shakhtar Donetsk has sold forward Oleksandr Zubkov to Trabzonspor. The team's coach Şenol Güneş confirmed the deal and expressed hope that Zubkov will have an impact on the team.

The deal, according to sources, amounted to 7.5 million euros, excluding bonuses, which was a record for the Turkish club. Trabzonspor is currently ranked 10th in the local Super League.

The 28-year-old Ukrainian has already arrived in Turkey for a medical examination.

Oleksandr comes from Shakhtar Donetsk. In 2020, he joined Ferencvaros for 1.5 million euros, and two years later he returned to Shakhtar for 2 million. This season, he scored 7 goals and provided 6 assists in 21 games.

This transfer was the third most expensive among Shakhtar's player sales in the last 5 years. Only Mykhailo Mudryk's transfer to Chelsea for €70 million and Anatoliy Trubin's transfer to Benfica for €10 million are higher.

As reported earlier, another Shakhtar and Ukraine striker, Danylo Sikan, joined Trabzonspor. According to Transfermarkt, the transfer amounted to 6 million euros, and the player's contract will be valid until the summer of 2029.

Shakhtar has also parted ways with their legend Taras Stepanenko. The captain has become a player of Turkish side Eyüpspor, as reported by the club's official account. The contract is for 1.5 years.
