Real Madrid wants to get rid of Ukraine's goalkeeper's rival after the Spanish Super Cup disgrace
Real Madrid is not willing to sign a full contract with goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, who is on loan from Chelsea, the Evening Standard reports. The 29-year-old Spaniard, who is the main competitor of Ukrainian footballer Andriy Lunin, made many shameful mistakes in the Super Cup semifinals against his countrymen from Atletico Madrid.
Officials in Madrid are less and less impressed with Kepa, despite the fact that he wants to stay in Madrid. The Spanish goalkeeper's performances are calling into question the deal on a permanent basis.
Chelsea also doesn't want Kepa back. In the near future, the Blues are betting on Robert Sanchez and George Petrovic.
The London club purchased Arrizabalaga for £71 million. He joined the team in 2018, becoming the most expensive goalkeeper in the world. The current contract expires in 12 months. According to the contract, Arrizabalaga receives 180,000 pounds per week.
This season, Arrizabalaga has conceded 12 goals in 16 games at Real Madrid. In 7 matches, he has made zero saves.
It will be recalled that 24-year-old Ukrainian goalkeeper Andriy Lunin joined Real Madrid from Luhansk's Zorya in July 2018 for €3.5 million. Since then, he has played on loan at Leganes, Real Valladolid and Real Oviedo.
This season, after Arrisbalaga's injury, he took his place in goal, playing in 10 matches. In five of them, Andriy made zero saves.
At first, Ancelotti wanted to divide the playing time in the second half of the season between the Ukrainian and his rival, but at the last moment he decided to trust Lunin.
As OBOZ.UA reported earlier, the media reported that two English Premier League clubs are interested in Andriy Lunin.
