If you want to know which car you shouldn't buy, ask a mechanic
When buying a car - whether new or used - every driver wants to get the least problematic model that won't require frequent repairs and will almost always be on the move. And it is logical to ask a mechanic who has seen the insides of as many different cars as possible for advice on this matter.
Yahoo Finance asked Jacob Carter, an experienced mechanic who was involved in both engineering and repair. And he named three specific models that he would never buy because of their unreliability.
Dodge Dart
The first five generations of the model, which were produced from 1960 to 1976, were quite good in terms of reliability. Dodge decided to revive the compact sedan in 2013 after a 35-year pause, but not everyone liked the result. The updated Dart has gained a reputation as an unreliable car that requires frequent repairs. It also has a low safety rating and lacks features that many drivers are looking for in a modern car.
Volkswagen Beetle
The Beetle was loved for its distinctive appearance - it was one of the most stylish cars ever to hit the world's highways. However, its owners did not share the enthusiasm. The VW Beetle has limited cargo space and can be difficult to handle due to its compact size. Thus, due to its impracticality, the German automaker stopped producing the Beetle in 2019. This was the second time. The first time the model was discontinued was in 1979.
Ford Focus
Over the 25 years of its existence, Ford Focus has gone through four updates, but none of the generations could be called completely successful. That's why Ford announced that it will completely stop producing the Focus in 2025. The reason behind this is that the brand has decided to move towards a complete switch to electric motors. Still, it's no secret that the Focus has already had transmission problems that resulted in expensive repairs. It also constantly lags behind in safety ratings in its class.
