Ammunition warehouse attacked in Russian Karachev

On the night of November 19, a powerful explosion occurred in the city of Karachev, Bryansk region of the Russian Federation, after which a powerful fire started, followed by less intense explosions. The ammunition depot of the 1046th logistics center was attacked there.

The operation was conducted by the Ukrainian Defense Forces. Prior to the loud explosion, local authorities announced a missile threat and then claimed to have repelled a "Ukrainian drone attack."

"A missile threat was announced in the Bryansk region, after which, according to eyewitnesses, a very powerful explosion occurred in Karachev. Currently, residents are seeing fire and hearing less powerful explosions. A large ammunition depot is located here," Russian public media reported on Tuesday morning, posting a video of a massive fire.

They suggested that it was this depot that had been struck, but it is unclear whether the AFU used drones or missiles.

The governor of the Bryansk region, Alexander Bogomaz, said that "an attempted terrorist attack by the Kyiv regime was prevented." He claims that the Russian air defense forces "detected and destroyed about 10 UAVs".

At the same time, Russian propagandists pulled up as much drama as they could, claiming "combined attack using UAVs and Western ATACMS/Storm Shadow missiles", as Western media had reported the day before that the ban on their use by the Ukrainian Defense Forces had been lifted.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine officially reported that on the night of November 19, 2024, units of the Armed Forces, in cooperation with other components of the Defense Forces, attacked the arsenal of the 1046th logistics center near the city of Karachev, Bryansk region of the Russian Federation.

"As of 02:30, 12 secondary explosions and detonations were recorded at the impact site. The destruction of ammunition depots that work for the Russian army will continue. This is how we can stop the Russian armed aggression against Ukraine. To be continued... Glory to Ukraine!" the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated.

It is worth noting that on November 19, the aggressor country celebrates the Day of Missile Forces and Artillery. The 67th arsenal of the Main Missile and Artillery Directorate of the Russian Defense Ministry is located near the 20,000-strong city of Karachev, 118 km from the border with Ukraine. Its total area is about 3.5 square kilometers.

In the morning, the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Andrii Kovalenko, said that this particular arsenal was struck in the Bryansk region. He noted that artillery ammunition, including North Korean systems for them, as well as guided bombs, anti-aircraft missiles and ammunition for MLRS were located there.

The Telegram channel of the OSINT analysis Oko Gora also wrote that the Russian arsenal in Karachev had previously been attacked with missiles.

"The first time, two hangars were destroyed there. This time, the results should be bigger," the post reads.

As reported, units of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in cooperation with other components of the Defense Forces, attacked the 67th arsenal on the night of October 9, 2024. The warehouse is used to store ammunition from the DPRK and guided bombs.
