Plastic surgery experts have named cosmetic procedures that are not worth spending your money on. Such manipulations should be avoided because they will not provide the desired result.

Instead, surgeons recommend solving cosmetic issues in healthier ways. After talking to experts, the Daily Mail has compiled a selection of procedures that should be avoided.

Kybella: Removal of a double chin

Removing a double chin with deoxycholic acid is performed through a series of injections into the treatment area that destroy fat cells. But when it comes to the non-surgical procedure, plastic surgeon Dr. Levine does not use the substance under the chin or on the face.

"Patients have a lot of swelling and downtime, and they need multiple treatments," he explained. "There are better ways to reduce chin fat without inflammation and scarring." However, he likes Kybella for specific areas, such as the calf or ankle.

The problem is that it usually takes three or four treatments before the actual surgery: during this time, you will spend money that you could have paid for liposuction, which is much more effective.

Morpheus8: The lifting procedure

Morpheus8 is a non-surgical treatment that uses radiofrequency to stimulate collagen and tighten and smooth wrinkles, which can be performed on the face or body. "I don't endorse Morpheus8 on the face if you have thin skin," said Dr. Levine.

"Morpheus8 can be a great body and skin tightening procedure, especially when combined with other treatments," surgeon Levine says. Morpheus8 is suitable for patients with thicker skin and fuller faces.

Levin's colleague, Dr. Nassif, said, "I believe in this treatment and can see that it is effective, but you need to make sure you see an experienced, board-certified doctor because any aesthetic treatment can have unwanted side effects and complications."

Fillers

While fillers, which tighten the skin and smooth lines on the face, are generally safe, there are certain procedures and locations to avoid. Dr. Levine said that permanent fillers are a huge no for him because "the face is a moving area." "The face can change over time, and complications caused by these products can be a problem," Levine warned.

Dr. Nassif also advised against fillers near the eyes and forehead. "Since the supratrochlear and supraorbital arteries are located on the forehead, you risk vascular occlusion and even blindness," he said.

Excessive Botox on the forehead

While Botox can be helpful, excessive doses on the forehead can change the shape of the eyebrows. Dr. Levine advised against "freezing your face with Botox or other neurotoxins," which prevents muscles from moving.

Buccal fat removal

Buccal fat removal is the removal of fat from the cheeks to accentuate facial structure and create a more prominent shape, but unfortunately, it can make you look emaciated. However, Dr. Levine only recommends this for "very specific patients." "I look at the cause of the fullness of the lower face. Is it the masseter muscle? Is it a weak jawline or chin? Is it submental fullness? Is it laxity?" Dr. Levine says.

Dr. Nassif agreed that this is not a procedure he recommends. "The problem is that when you remove too much fat from your face, it may look good in the short term, but you're taking away the fat you need as you age. Thus, it makes your face look emaciated," he continued.

Rhinoplasty

"Some people want to have a Barbie nose. I refuse to do anything that is extreme or will interfere with your health or breathing," Dr. Nassif said.

"Any procedure can have negative side effects or complications. There is a high probability that in many years a person will not like this look and will be very dissatisfied with their appearance," he continued.
