Perfect for swimming and quiet pastime: this British bay has been dubbed a 'hidden gem'

The hotter the climate gets, the more people gather on beaches in summer. And the more urgent it becomes to find places near the water where it would not be so crowded.

The Express told us about such a place. It is also called the hidden gem of Britain.

This beach is located in Pembrokeshire, Wales. To get there, you need to walk a little bit from everyone's favorite Barafundle Bay. Just a few minutes and you'll find yourself in a small cove that is called the perfect place for swimming. The rocky beach of Stackpole Quay is completely underwater at high tide, but when the water recedes, it opens up a great place to relax.

Once upon a time, the embankment here was used as a harbor. Back then, lime was mined in Pembrokeshire and shipped by sea. Nowadays, you can often find tourists visiting the Stackpole Estate reserve, which belongs to the National Trust.

Given that there are many golden sand beaches within reach, Stackpole Quay can be noticeably quieter than its neighbors such as Tenby South Beach or Newgale Beach. At the same time, you can enjoy a variety of water activities, such as snorkeling, canoeing or kayaking. The beach is free of charge.

Given the location of the place in a nature reserve, you can meet travelers enjoying the wildlife here. If you wish, you can join them and observe various rare birds in their habitat - fulmars, alpine eiders, lesser eiders, as well as house swallows, kingfishers and even bats if you go further inland.

Those who want to enjoy the seaside views can take a stroll along the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path, which leads to Barafundle Bay, or continue on to Broadhaven South Beach.
