Paradise island without tourists: where to go on an unforgettable vacation

Yulia PoteriankoNews

For many tourists, the ideal vacation is one where they can get away not only from their usual routine but also from the large number of people around them. That's why destinations that were not on the top of the list before are gaining popularity.

According to Express, one of these destinations is the picturesque island of Palawan in the Philippines. Its capital is the city of Puerto Princesa, and the population is approximately 995,000, making it one of the least densely populated in the country. At the same time, it boasts abundant wildlife, dense jungle, and white sandy beaches.

The seascapes on Palawan are as beautiful as any in Southeast Asia, but there is much more space here, as tourists have not yet fully discovered the island. Meanwhile, there is plenty to see here.

One of the island's unique attractions is the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park. It is home to one of the longest navigable river caves in the world. You can take a walk through it using a non-motorized boat. Don't forget to take an audio guide with you. The tour lasts about 45 minutes, during which the boat travels about 1.5 kilometers along the river.

Popular activities in Palawan are diving and snorkeling, which allow you to admire the incredible diversity of the Coral Triangle's fauna. In the Tubbataha Reefs National Park, which is a partially submerged atoll, hammerhead sharks are found along with giant gobies and manta rays.

From here you can also go on vacation to the smaller islands of Coron, Minilok, or Cadlao. You can also visit the local waterfalls of Kuyawyaw and Estrella. The island has many sandy beaches with turquoise clear waters, including Nacpan, Duli, and Long Beach.

According to experts, in 2022, Palawan was visited by only 800,000 thousand tourists. For comparison, 1.8 million people visited the Maldives during the same period.
