Paid messages may appear on Telegram: what is known

Elena BylimNews

Telegram has started testing a new feature called Paid Messages. This innovation has sparked a lot of discussion among users, as the messenger may now offer additional monetization opportunities.

Currently, the feature is only available in test mode and in a limited number of chats. Users have already noticed that paid messages appear in both private and group chats, SE7EN.ws reports.

According to preliminary data, it is the owners of the chats who get the opportunity to add paid messages, not Telegram itself. This means that administrators of groups or private chats can decide whether to enable this feature for their users. Settings for paid messages will be available for personal chats and groups, and they may differ depending on the type of chat.

According to information received from users, this feature is currently being tested and is available to a limited number of people. There have been no official announcements or details about the launch of paid messages yet, so many aspects of the functionality remain unclear. It is known that paid messages are supposed to be part of the wider Star Coins system that Telegram plans to implement.

In addition, the new version of Telegram 11.8 Beta for Android has other features related to the Star Coins system, including options for withdrawing these coins, as well as for purchasing a premium subscription using Star Coins. However, these features are also undergoing testing and are currently available only on a limited number of servers.

Users of premium accounts will be able to set fees for private messages in the Privacy and Security settings. At the same time, senders of such messages will have to pay using Star Coins, with a 15% commission on the platform. Premium subscriptions will be available for 3, 6, and 12 months for the appropriate amount of Star Coins.
