For a long time, there was a café chantant called Chateau de Fleur on Mykhailo Hrushevsky Street in Kyiv. It was a well-known vacation spot for the capital's residents, where the city's loudest parties used to take place.

The photos and the story were published on the Telegram channel the Kyiv Living History community. Unfortunately, in the late 1910s, the place closed forever.

"Once upon a time, the site of the Dynamo Stadium was a park with the loudest parties in Kyiv. In 1863, the Chateau de Fleur was opened in the center of the city, the first paid park in the city with cafes, galleries, a greenhouse, a shooting range, swings, and a skating rink that was opened in winter," the statement reads.

Dancers performed on the stage of the institution, and gymnasts and cyclists entertained the guests. The evenings ended with fireworks, sparklers, and a military band march. It was in the Chateau de Fleur that strongman Ivan Piddubny made his first performance, and films by the Lumiere brothers were shown.

The institution became a cultural phenomenon of the time, but in 1919 the story ended. First, sports grounds appeared there, and in 1933 the Dynamo Stadium appeared.

As a reminder, Obolonska embankment is one of the favorite vacation spots not only for locals but for all Kyiv residents. But in the early 1990s, this place was hardly equipped, and trees grew on the site of the modern beach.
