Not the best choice: which cars for the middle class should be avoided
Buying a car is an important decision and a valuable investment. Prices are rising rapidly, the economic situation is deteriorating, and you don't want to buy a car that will require constant additional investments. A new car costs at least five figures in dollars.
Experts estimate that among the average middle-class cars, there are those that offer an ideal price-quality ratio. However, some models should be avoided.
As previously reported by GOBankingRates, financial expert Humphrey Young recently analyzed the current state of affairs in the American automotive market, noting that the average income of an American citizen was approximately $59,384 per year, which is slightly higher than the average price of a new car. Buying a car that costs literally a year's salary is a risky proposition, especially in the face of high interest rates.
Mazda CX-70
Starting price: $41,900
According to TrueCar, this hybrid has a "well-designed interior," "a choice of gas or PHEV powertrains," and "ample trunk space." Unfortunately, it lacks an all-electric model for more environmentally conscious middle-class buyers.
Audi A5 2024
Starting price: $47,295
According to TrueCar, this Audi, despite being "chic" and "fun to drive," costs almost $50,000 and lacks cargo space. You can find better deals for that price.
Dodge Charger Daytona EV
Starting price: $61,590
The Dodge Daytona Electric Charger not only combines muscle car styling with environmentally friendly electric vehicle technology, but also, unfortunately, costs $14,000 more than the 2023 gas-powered model.
Tesla Model S Plaid 2024
Starting price: $70,000
Electric cars should be seen as an investment in the future. Tesla S is equipped with stimulating special features - and by its nature requires sophisticated battery technology. All of these models are beyond the budget of the middle class.
Cadillac Escalade
Starting price: $85,596
The Cadillac Escalade has a high price - so high that it does not justify itself on the market at all. Experts say that there are better and more reliable models that are much cheaper.
