Not Steve Rogers anymore: the trailer of the new Captain America movie has been released
Marvel Studios presented a new trailer for Captain America: A Brave New World at the D23 Brazil fan event held this Saturday. This is the first event of its kind in Brazil, where actors Anthony Mackie and Danny Ramirez personally greeted fans before the trailer premiere.
In the new film, the role of Captain America is being taken over by Sam Wilson, symbolizing a new era for this iconic hero. The film is scheduled to premiere on Valentine's Day - February 14, 2025, Variety reports.
The lead role is played by Anthony Mackie, known to viewers as Sam Wilson, who has previously donned the Captain America costume in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier series.
The movie will also feature other iconic characters: Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross, played by Harrison Ford, the new Falcon, played by Ramirez, Isaiah Bradley (Carl Lambly), and the Israeli superhero Sabra (Shira Haas). Fans will also see Liv Tyler reprising her role as Betty Ross and Tim Blake Nelson as The Leader.
Sam Wilson took over the mantle of Captain America from Steve Rogers after the events of the movie Avengers: Finale". In the finale, Steve, played by Chris Evans, goes back in time to live a life with his beloved Peggy Carter, leaving the shield to Sam. It was this symbolic passing of the shield that cemented Sam as the new "Captain America" in the Marvel universe.
Sam's first appearance as the Captain was in the Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, where he teamed up with Winter Soldier Bucky Barnes, played by Sebastian Stan. The series received high praise from both fans and critics, and was nominated for five Emmy Awards, cementing the success of this tandem project.
In the new film Captain America: Brave New World, Sam faces a serious dilemma when US President Ross makes him an offer to become an official agent of the state. At first, Wilson is skeptical, but he faces an even more important task: to stop a dangerous criminal who threatens the very heart of power in the White House.
In addition, the character of Ross, played by Harrison Ford, will turn into the Red Hulk, another gamma-irradiated monster, which will be a new challenge for Sam. This plot development adds to the story's dynamics, as Ross appears in the comics as a powerful opponent for Marvel heroes.
The film is directed by Julius Ona and written by Malcolm Spellman, Dalan Masson and Matthew Orton, who promise a combination of intense action, psychological dilemmas and political intrigue. The film, according to the director, explores the issues of patriotism and personal choice in a difficult political situation.
