Not only Knowledge Day: what holiday is celebrated on September 1

Candlemas is a folk Christian holiday that symbolizes the beginning of the autumn cycle. The holiday is associated with the day of St. Simeon the Pillar. After the adoption of Christianity in Kievan Rus, the new year was celebrated on September 1, which coincided with the beginning of the indictment.
In Ukraine, September 1 is the Day of Knowledge. Schools hold ceremonial line-ups to mark the start of the school year.
