The BookRetreats Global Relaxation Index analyzed 76 destinations around the world to find out which ones can offer travelers a truly relaxing experience.

Australia, with a population density of 3.4 people per square kilometer, has a huge amount of entertainment and good places to relax. For comparison, Italy has 198.3 people per square kilometer, and Mauritius - 626.

The mainland can offer tourists a huge range of vacation destinations: from colorful beaches to deserts and cities bustling with life. Moreover, Australia has a lot of national parks that impress with their beauty and diverse flora and fauna.

Tourists can enjoy the view of the oldest rainforest in the world - the Daintree, visit the Uluru Desert, or relax on the Great Barrier Reef, which is one of the seven natural wonders of the world.

In addition, Australia offers those who like to soak up the sun or surfing some of the best beaches in the world. One of the most popular is Whitehaven on Whitsunday Island. Visitors can enjoy the white sand and crystal clear water. According to Lonely Planet, Whitehaven Beach is considered the best in the world. The sand there consists of 98% silicon.
