"Not a single one": Russian skiers put in their place by the international federation
The International Ski Federation (FIS) does not intend to return Russian athletes to its competitions in the near future. The organization intends to maintain the suspension of representatives of the aggressor country from top-level tournaments through 2025.
This was stated by the FIS in response to a question from the VseProSport portal. Russia had hoped for a relaxation of the sanctions after the International Skating Union (ISU) allowed athletes from Russia to qualify for the Olympic Games in Milan, but limited the number of participants.
"At this time, we can state with certainty that no Russian or Belarusian athlete, coach or any member of the staff will be invited to participate in the Cup, World Cup, or other FIS-organized tournament until further notice," the FIS said.
Earlier, the International Biathlon Union (IBU) announced a similar decision to uphold the suspension of Russians from competitions. The statement caused a new wave of hysteria in Russia.
In turn, a well-known Russian figure skating coach Tatyana Tarasova complained about the suspension saying "they are used to punishing us for nothing."
